During the RVI Hackathon in Durres, Albania, we brought together teams of community leaders, subject-matter experts, and local activists to develop prototypes and solutions to post-truth challenges in the Western Balkans.
The two-day event included six main sessions: an ideation and prototype workshop, a panel on countering extremist narratives, a pitching training, a solution hacking session, a discussion on strategic communications and an award ceremony for participants.
In these sessions, we shared global perspectives on the use of technology and creative communication to achieve sustainable social change. On-site mentors helped apply their ideas in our Team Hacking Spaces, where they provided feedback on topics ranging from campaign development to impact measurement.
Now, their innovative projects are laying the ground work for best practices on countering disinformation and inflammatory online messaging in the region.
